Destination Fifty Lakes
It was another hot one in Minnesota! Not nearly as bas as last weekend but still pretty warm. Also very dusty up in the Outing area! We haven’t gotten any rain up there since Memorial Day weekend so it’s dry as dry can be up there. Still doesn’t stop up from getting in the machines and going for a ride!
Our friends chose to take a trip over to Fifty Lakes for our ride this weekend which was awesome for me since I’ve never driven my machine on those trails – so it was a new adventure for me! We started at their place in Emily and took the ditch over to the trails that takes us to Fifty Lakes.
We did a little work on my machine on Friday night to try and help with the heat that comes through the middle of the cab. I got some heat shielding that I read worked on a Can Am Facebook page that I follow so we installed that before going out for our ride on Saturday. At first it really seemed to help – but my machine was also cold and the air temp at the time was in the mid 70’s so not as hot has it’s been up there. Once the temperature rose and my machine warmed up I really didn’t notice any difference. It was still really hot in there! I’ll keep doing some research to see if I can find something that helps with the heat – if I find anything I’ll share the news here and on Facebook!
We had a really fun ride over to the Muni in Fifty Lakes! We made a couple of stops along the trail on the way there to chat. I also got a shipment of stickers in so we all put one on our machines to test them out! I wanna make sure that they are good quality and durable before I start to offer them on the site and on Facebook for folks. Keep your eyes out for announcements on our Facebook page for some giveaways coming up soon too!
I’m super glad we made the trip to the Muni in Fifty Lakes because we decided to go in together and play some pull tabs and won $600! We play with our friends all the time and haven’t had the best luck since we hit it big on my birthday – that time we went to the Corner Club in Hill City and won $650!! All in all it was a really awesome day to go riding in the area – even though we had to put up with some dust and heat.
The ride to Fifty Lakes is super fun and the Over The Hills Gang ATV club are working on getting the trail system connected over the next three years to make them a part of the Emily Outing trail system. That way you don’t have to ride on the tar as much as you do today.
Another part of our adventure on Saturday was going over to Manhattan Beach Lodge for a late lunch in Crosslake. This place is on Big Trout Lake which is a lake in the Whitefish Chain of lakes over in that area. It’s an absolutely beautiful chain of lakes in northern Minnesota and I highly recommend if you’re ever in the area and want to go riding in Emily/Outing to make sure you book a day over in Crosslake and rent a boat on that chain of lakes. It’s a large body of water and there are a couple of different bars and restaurants to go to on the lakes as well as a bunch of sand bars to hang out and swim at.
Big Trout Lake is probably my favorite of all the lakes in the chain because it’s a really cool green color. It was an amazing day and we had a blast on the trails and got to see some new ones too!
