Fall Riding MN

I love love love riding in the fall – especially up in northern Minnesota. The trails we frequent are heavily wooded so the scenery is always beautiful – even on a gloomy day, The image at the beginning of the slideshow is from a ride we did last fall and it was one of my favorite for many reasons. One of the best reasons was that a woman I met on the Ladies Only Ride reached out to me because they were going to be camping in the area and wanted to hook up to go riding with us. I love that we get to meet so many people because of this hobby and it’s always so much fun to have more people on a ride! One thing that she said on one of our stops is that she was glad that this date and ride worked out because we know the area and it’s so much easier to go with folks that are comfortable and can lead the way. Thankfully we ride the area so much and so do our friends that have a cabin up there that we have a couple of great leaders to follow.

We went a long way that day and hit up some new trails in the area. If you want to go to my Pork N Ride 2020 page you can see how beautiful the trails are up in northern Minnesota in the fall. I know people think our winters and weather are horrible but I think this state is beautiful. We have shorter Springs, Summers, and Falls but they are totally worth it

We went on a longer and very dusty ride that day. It was the first time that I was driving on such a dry day. I will admit I’m on the fence on what I like better in my machine at this point – if it’s wet I get covered in mud. My CanAm Maverick Sport Rock Crawler has fender flare on it but they are meant for the Maverick Sport – my tires stick out so far they do nothing for mud. The dust didn’t bother me at first but then it was intense. We got out on a stop and my friends said I looked like an Umpa Loompa because I had so much dirt/dust on my face! Thankfully my machine is stocked with a lot of essentials like wet wipes.

One of the things we love to do any time of the year is go on night rides. There are a couple of reasons for this – one being that it’s easier to see folks coming at you since a lot of people love buggy whips or light bars or rock lights. Since the trails can be tight and winding it helps to have a little light to help see someone coming at you in advance. We also love us a night ride because there are less folks out there at night – especially in the area we like to ride.

One other thing that we love about a good night ride is that there are a couple of places around where we regularly go that you can see all of the stars in the sky. There are a lot of times when we have people up to our cabin to go riding for the weekend where the first night we bring folks just down the way on a logging road where on a clear note I swear you can see the Milky Way and every star in the sky.
