Emily Day Blind Lake Ride
It was the third Saturday in July and you know what that means? It was Emily Day!! And yep – Emily Day is just one day. We decided to go up to the event in Emily and check it out before going on a ride on the Blind Lake trail. We haven’t been on this trail for a long time so it was a super fun ride. Emily Day had a bunch of food vendors and a lot of booths with clothes and flea market type things. It was our first time at the event since we’ve only been up in that area for two summers and last year it was cancelled due to COVID. It was really fun and if you’re ever in the Emily/Outing area over that weekend I highly recommend checking it out.
The nice thing about this ride was that we had some friends in town for the weekend. After we checked out Emily Day we hit the road and went over to pick them up to get on the trail. The easiest way to get over to them was to ride on the road for a bit which was a nice change I have to say. We haven’t had rain in the area for two weeks so the trails are really dusty, so it was a nice change to hit some tar and make some hay over to our friends place. Once we picked them up we hit the road again to get over to the Blind Lake trail in Emily. We had a group of eight on this ride and we had four women drivers!
It was so much fun to go on a ride with so many friends and it was super awesome to have so many ladies driving! It was the first time driving for one of our friends and she loved it! It was a really fun trail for her first time too – there are some areas of the trail that are really tight and winding and there are some close trees on the trail too.
We also got to meet some new friends on this ride. The folks that we normally go riding with usually stay with our friends in Emily. We found out they have some family that have this amazing hunting shack in Emily out in the woods. I’ve never seen anything like it! It was this beautiful place that probably had 8 bedrooms. The place has an amazing barn with garage doors that work with cables on the outside. It was a beautiful place to stop and pick up our friends.
The trails and scenery were absolutely beautiful this weekend even though it was really dusty. We haven’t hit these trials in a while and I forgot how pretty this area is. There were so many areas that are so different too this year since we haven’t really had any rain. It’s really kind of interesting to see the areas that are usually filled with water. You get a better sense of how deep those puddle can get and what the ground underneath looks like. It’s been a different year of riding for us – this is the first time we’ve been riding in the area during a drought.
My husband and I made it to the pavilion off the Blind Lake trail with everyone and decided to peel off since it was so hot! It was a great day to go for a quick ride in the morning but we also wanted to get out and float in the water, let the doggo swim and take him for a boat ride. All in all it was a awesome day in the Emily/Outing area!
