First Fall Ride 2019

I call this the First Fall Ride 2019 because this was our first ride having folks up to our cabin. We closed on the place the week before and this was the last weekend we could have people up and go riding. Now that I’m writing this maybe this should be called the Last Fall Ride 2019?

We fell in love with the area up in Outing MN and my husband and I are kind of impulsive and we decided that we should buy a cabin after riding up there a couple of times. We have a friend where we live that’s a realtor and he met us up there over Labor Day weekend to look at some cabins and we settled on one that was on a small lake and really close to the access to a bunch of trails. We bought in the fall before Covid and we were so grateful to have this place to go to when the lockdown started. It felt like we could still go on vacation on the weekends and explore the area either by side by side or by truck.

We also have a golden retriever named Jasper and buying this place made is so he could always come with us when we wanted to go riding. We also have a small lake that he can go swimming in. He’s getting older and I love that we have somewhere he can go and enjoy swimming and boating and we can also go riding knowing he’s safe and happy in the cabin.

This ride was a really fun time. Thankfully we have friends that have been up in the Emily/Outing area for years and are really familiar with the trail systems. We also had a couple of friends that came up that also were pretty familiar with the area and since we were new we let them take the lead on the ride. I’m actually kind of surprised that I don’t have more photos of this trip! As you can see it was a wet one – we had a good amount of rain that fall which made the ride muddy and fun.

In one of my other posts I mentioned that we used to go riding in the Wahkon area a lot before we found a place in Outing. It was a shorter drive for us than going to the Emily/Outing area which allowed us to ride a little more. We haven’t been there in a bit since we have a place up north but it’s on my list to go back this spring.

There are a couple of places that I would like to go over this next spring/summer season. Our friends that have a place in Emily always say “just because they have a place near all these trails we need to get out and see other things too.” I completely agree with this – I just need to get my husband on board! I think this sport is a great way to see a lot of the country and travel to places that you never thought you would go! You can read about on of those trips on my Huntsville TN 2019 page.
