Halloween Ride 2021

It was our last weekend for riding up in Northern Minnesota – the trails in our area close on November 1st every year and don’t open again until May 15th depending on weather. There are some trails in the area that are open mostly year round for ATVs so we’ll get out there again soon, but there are a few weekends where we aren’t allowed on the trails because of big game hunting, or deer hunting. It’s probably better that we aren’t out in the woods driving around when folks are out there hunting!

It was so much fun and a little bittersweet since it’s the end of the season. Spring, Summer and Fall are so much fun out on the trails and we slow down a bit in the winter depending on how much snow we get. The best part of the weekend was that some of our new friends came out for the ride and we even got to celebrate our friend’s 40th birthday. We have met a couple different couples over the last few weeks that have joined us for our rides which is always so much fun. I think it so much better to ride with a group if you can than ride alone. It seems so much safer and you have others around in case you run into issues with your machine. It’s also just so much more fun! I love meeting new people and everyone we have had the opportunity to meet over the years on the trails are amazing people.

So the last time we were out on the trails my husband’s machine broke down. We luckily were on a forest road that lead to a tar road where he could leave his machine. After we got back to Outing he and our good friend that has a cabin in the area as well went to pick up his machine. Thankfully we had our trailer up with us that weekend. He was already planning on bringing his in to get it looked over and get the oil change. Having his machine in the shop meant he was riding with me! It was a really fun day and nice to have some company in my machine for once. Since he was the passenger he took some pictures throughout the day, so some of the ones on this page are the ones he took. This is the first post that has some of his pics from the ride!

We had a pretty good sized group out on the trails with us this last weekend! We had 11 machines in our group this time and there were 21 adults and two absolutely adorable kiddos. The little ones did amazing and they seemed to be having a great time.

We did a pretty long ride during the day. We took the new Blind Lake Connector that opened on September 15th this year. We took that all the way over to the pavilion and then our next destination was The Corner Club in Hill City. It’s one of our favorite destinations that has great burgers and wonderful bartenders and of course Pull Tabs. We had to play of course and thankfully won a $225 off of a pick-a-pull.

Thankfully the weather was super nice so we hit a couple more spots on the way back – one of my favorite spots by a lake and we also got to hit up the All Pine Inn one last time for the season. We are incredibly lucky to have so many friends that love this hobby as much as we do and we are also lucky to have such an amazing area to ride around in!
