Labor Day Weekend 2021

It was an absolutely beautiful weekend! I’m always so sad when summer is over because I love summer so much, but we couldn’t have asked for a better Labor Day Weekend! It was the perfect temperature to go riding, which we did all day Saturday and even got a boat ride in for the dog. We did a little more relaxing on Sunday and went for an amazing boat ride with friends that took us out on their boat with their family. We had a blast and got to sit on the lake and have a bunch of laughs and watch the kids fish for sunnies.

We started the day at the monthly ATV club meeting. We are a part of the Over the Hills Gang ATV club and the meetings are held the first weekend of the month. We unfortunately missed the last couple meetings because we had folks up at the cabin, but we needed to attend this month’s meeting because the Ladies Only Ride is next weekend and one of the ride leaders needed to request some funding for the lunch we provide for the ride.

We got the funding requested and also got some additional giveaways for the ride. There’ll be some trivia and games where we can give away some silly prizes to make the Ladies Only Ride a little more fun.

After the meeting we went out on the newer Blind Lake Connector that’s going to fully open on the 15th of September. We had a goal to make it over to Hidden Meadows for lunch. Once the new Blind Lake Connector is fully open it will be even nicer to get over to that resort. The first time we made it over that way was during the Pork-N-Ride in the fall of 2020. We happened to stop there when they were doing their annual thank you party and providing a bunch of free food and beer. They hold this event every year to thank the folks that stay at the resort. It was a lot of fun and the food was great. We have a ride planned for the same weekend with the club this year so it looks like we’ll be there again.

We did a lot of riding on Saturday this weekend and put on a lot of miles. We went out to Hidden Meadows in the morning and then came back to the cabin to let the doggo go swimming and took him for a boat ride. He loves the cabin and loves going swimming and boat rides. We figured that it was probably one of the last weekends we’d be able to take him swimming so we made time for that in between riding.

We decided that we were going to try to go somewhere for dinner and wanted to go for a ride before so we chose the Corner Club. It’s a little ways away and there are some really fun trails that you can take to get there. I can’t even tell you how many miles we put on the machines on Saturday but it felt like we were riding all day.

I’m sad that summer seems to be over but I am excited to plan some trips and for all of the events that we have coming up this fall! The saddest time really is when the trails close for the winter.
