Ladies Only Ride 2020

2020 was the first year that I attended the Ladies Only Ride that is sponsored by Over the Hills Gang. We had an amazing turnout of about 46 women on the ride and about 26 machines! I was really impressed with the number of women that joined this ride.

I was also lucky enough to help plan the event. Since we ride the area quite a bit we got together with two other couples – two of the women that we rode with to plan the ride were also organizers and ride leads. Since I was newer to driving my own machine we picked a route that we were all comfortable with. We also made sure there were some stops along the way so we could all get out of our machines and socialize a bit.

One of the stops we made was at the All Pine Inn Resort in Outing. The picture to the right is from that stop. They were kind enough to allow all of us to stop there for lunch which was provided by Lake Country Grocery & Liquor in Outing. They made us amazing sandwiches and provided chips and drinks. The folks at the All Pine Inn Resort set up tables for us and put down table cloths! It was pretty fancy considering we were out riding in the mud and hoping the rain would stay away until the ride was over.

We started at the Channel Bar & Grill in Outing. They provided us with breakfast – not something that they normally do. We met there around 8:00 am and the ride took off around 9:00 am. There was a quick overview of how the ride would go and some pointers on how to make sure we all have a great time and stay safe. It was so nice to see how many women turned out for this ride and I got to meet so many new people that share a hobby that I love. It’s also a great opportunity for those that don’t drive often to be able to ride with a supportive group of women that love the sport.

We had a great time that day and thankfully the weather held out for us. It was gloomy but thankfully it didn’t rain on us.

After we had lunch at the All Pine Inn Resort we continued the ride and ended up going through what we call the jungle over to the Pickled Loon in Emily. That was the last stop for the day. It was a very successful ride and everyone made it through the entire ride with no incidents – which was pretty amazing given how many machines joined us that day.

After the ride was officially over some of the women that joined us that day went for a night ride with us and our husbands. They were out riding that day on their own and we met up at the Pickled Loon. The best part of the day for me was all of the women I got to meet and now call friends.
