Ladies Ride Pre-Run

We finally did it! We got to ride on the trail that we’re taking on the Ladies Only Ride this September. We have a couple of friends that help organize the Ladies Only Ride for the Over the Hills Gang. It’s an annual ride where we all get together to take ladies only down the trail and tell them about the club and encourage people to become members of the club. The Over the Hills Gang ATV Club does everything for the trail system in the area and every membership helps the club with all of the trail maintenance, new trails, and everything else they do for everyone that rides in the area. It’s a great way to get some women out on the trails with a group of supportive people. We have a lot of folks that don’t normally drive that participate on this ride and they always have a blast.

There is a new trail that’s opening on September 15th and we luckily get to use this new trail for the Ladies Only Ride this year. We did get to ride part of this trail last year for the Pork-N-Ride in the fall but the entire trail wasn’t available for that ride. This last weekend we got to go on the new part of the trail that the club just finished to get an idea of places we can stop for games and giveaways during the ride and also to see how long the ride would be. We also needed to get timing down for where we would have lunch brought in for the group.

The new Blind Lake Connector that we got to ride is absolutely beautiful. We got to ride with the club President who told us so much about the trail and the area. We love any time we get to ride with him because we all learn so much and he’s so passionate about the sport and the trail system in Minnesota. He told us when he designed this trail he wanted it to be a tighter, windier trail so people could enjoy the scenery during the ride instead of flying down the trail and not seeing the beauty of their surroundings. This trail is so different than the normal trails we ride, it’s really like driving through the woods.

We’ve been talking about going on this ride for a while and we finally had the opportunity to get the group of women together that organize the ride and the new trail was in a state that we could do the whole thing to better plan for the Ladies Only Ride. We’re hoping to have a good turn out for this like we did last year. I think we had about 46 women on the ride in about 26 machines. Hopefully we have something similar this year and I’m really hoping that everyone enjoys the trail as much as we did this last weekend.

We do have a little more planning to do and I need to get the GoPro videos I shot all edited and put together to hopefully share with the club so they can post it to let folks know what our Ladies Only Ride is all about. We also need to figure out some games and giveaways to do when we stop along the trail.

I’m so grateful that the club president took time out of his day to take us down the new trail and I also love that it’s the trail that we can take for the ride in September.
