Riding Around Outing

Another great weekend in northern Minnesota!! We had a blast this weekend riding around Outing! It’s the weekend after the Fourth of July and our friends that we normally go riding with were free from all of their holiday guests. We decided to go out for an evening ride on both Friday and Saturday.

Friday we started out by having our friends over for a quick pontoon ride, then a little dinner before we went out for a ride on the trails for the evening. We had some new friends join us for the night as well. The weather was perfect the whole night. It was still warm while we were on the boat and then it cooled off by the time we went out on the side by sides. We drove around the Outing area, stopped at the All Pine Inn for a little Karaoke, then headed home. Little did we know how late we were out! It’s the middle of July and I swear it doesn’t get dark until 10:30 pm! We made it back to the cabin around 11 pm.

We got to see some folks at the All Pine that we haven’t seen in a while and we also got to participate in the Karaoke we’ve heard about for years! That place is one of my favorite places to go when we’re up in the area. It’s got a beautiful view of Morrison Lake and the owners are so much fun and so hospitable. I highly recommend that place if you need a place to stay in the area.

On Saturday we ran a bunch of errands including heading out to Remer to get some breakfast and more importantly get one of my favorite meatballs from the grocery store in Remer. We made these meatballs the night before for everyone so I needed to replenish my stash. We took the dog swimming and for a nice long boat ride before we headed out on the trails Saturday night.

There are so many trails in the Outing area that are perfect for a nice relaxing night ride that can be fairly quick or you can end up riding g all night. Saturday night we went around a couple of the fun loops in the area – we took the A trail up towards the Cedar loop and then came back down the Wren loop. It was another perfect night for riding except it was pretty buggy at certain stops.

We have so much fun in the area and I know I write about riding around there a lot but I swear we still have as much fun going for rides as we did the first time our friends invited us up. It’s a beautiful area and there’s so many different ways to run the trails that it seems like a new ride every time we go up. It’s also nice that we are close to so many other trails like Spider Lake and that we can get to the Soo Line where we can connect to other trail systems like getting over to Hill City.

At a couple of the stops on Saturday, we started planning the ride for the Ladies Only Ride that the Over the Hills Gang ATV Club sponsors every year. There’s a new trail system that’s opening in the fall that the club president said we could use for that ride. Me and two other women help organize and plan that ride and we’re really excited we get to use the new trail. There’s a selfie station that’s set up there where you can take pictures and upload them to a site that has multiple locations all of the state with these same selfie stations. It’ll be fun to stop there and let everyone get their pictures in and get that stamp on their passport. Hopefully next weekend we’ll get to do a pre-run of that ride and I’ll share pictures and stories about that trip next week!
