Spider Lake ATV Trails
On May 1st 2021 was the first time I’ve ever been to the Spider Lake ATV trails. We’ve seen a bunch of people post about their rides there on the Facebook groups we follow and have talked bout going there so many times. It’s about 45 minutes away from our cabin and we had some friends camping there so we decided to trailer over and join them for a couple day trips. It was so much fun! I couldn’t believe how steep and rocky some of the trails were. There were some really tight trails too. The scenery was beautiful – we drove by so many ponds and lakes along the way and got to see a lot of beaver houses.
This was our first official ride of the year, or at least it felt like it. We went with a couple friends and we all made talked about how much we missed hanging out in the woods. It was an absolutely beautiful day for riding – it was 82 degrees Fahrenheit and sunny, which is surprisingly warm for the first of May in Minnesota.
We traveled over to Nimrod for lunch on the dirt roads. Yep – the town is called Nimrod and you better believe that I bought me and my husband a shirt from the bar we stopped at for lunch. We sat outside and had a great burger and hopped back on the dirt roads back to the trails to do more riding.
Our friends that we go riding with the most decided to try out trailering their machine behind the new camper they got for their anniversary. They planned this really cool road trip down to New Orleans and Texas over the spring but didn’t take their machine for this maiden voyage with the new camper. Since Spider Lake is so close to their cabin they thought it was a great trip to test out bringing their machine behind the camper. We got the invite and since our trails aren’t open for a couple more weeks it seemed like a perfect time to check out Spider Lake. We’ve been talking about doing this for over a year and it was totally worth it! As you can see from the pictures the trails are beautiful!
We stopped by this amazing campsite on the trails with the picture to the left as the view. We all are keeping this in mind for the next time we get out to these trails and go camping. We went in the early spring – even though for most people it probably looks like we went in the late fall or even in the winter. The leaves are just coming out down south where we live but it’s taking a little longer up north where we were on these trails. It was so warm that day I think we saw the leaves up there come out while we were on the trails.
This place was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to plan another trip out there. It’s so awesome that it’s so close to our cabin where we can take a day trip to go riding. The place was so amazing that it made us want to get a camper and travel and discover more trails across the state.
