Last July Weekend Ride
We got out on some of our local trails this weekend and we had a blast! It started with Friday night date night with me and my husband hitting the trails. That’s one of my favorite date night activities. I love going down any of the trails in our area and listening to music and taking in all the scenery along the way. I also love being outside and in the woods. For my birthday the last two years we go riding with our friends that have a cabin in the area. It’s been my new favorite birthday tradition, just like going out on the trails on Friday nights for date night.
We had some friends up staying at the All Pine Inn for the weekend too so they went on a couple rides with us. They pulled up their RV and four up side by side to stay at the campground. It’s an awesome campground too! They have a set up bar on the property and sell 3.2 beer and spiked seltzers. My husband and I go to the All Pine Inn a lot when we’re up at the cabin to hang out with the owners and the regulars that live in the area around the resort.
They have places to park your RV with hookups and they also have cabins on the property for folks to rent. It’s a super affordable place to stay if you wanna come up for the weekend to go fishing or riding around the trails up in the Emily, Outing area.
Our Ladies Only Ride made a stop at the All Pine Inn last year and we had lunch brought in by some volunteers. The owners set up the picnic tables all together in an area for us and even put table cloths down. It was so nice of them to make everyone feel so special for our lunch stop. All the ladies on the ride got to check out the cabins on the property that are available to rent which was great since I know some of them wanted to come back and explore more of the trails in the area.
The All Pine Inn is on Morrison Lake which is a really pretty lake. Our friends that stayed at the campground also went out in their paddle boats they have available for their guests to use and went fishing. They actually ended up catching some northern’s, bass and pan fish. Everyone said they had a great time there and also really enjoyed staying at this resort. If you’re ever in the area I totally recommend either staying here or at least stopping by for a drink and some karaoke.
It was a smoky one this weekend let me tell you. Unfortunately there are wild fires happening all over, both on the West Coast and up in Canada and we were getting hit with a lot of the smoke. I haven’t ever seen the air this smoky before and you could smell the smoke. It smelled just like standing next to a campfire. It’s really sad when these things happen and I can’t imagine how those that are living closer to the fires are handling all of it.
It’s been such a dry year for us in Minnesota and there have been bans on any kind of fires where we live and up at our cabin. The smoky skies around us are a sad reminder of why respecting those bans is so important in preventing these types of wild fires.
It was also pretty dusty on the trails in certain spots. We thankfully got some rain up there over the last week and it really did help out on the dust, but there’s always those areas that you hit that are still really dry on the trails.
We did find some muddy spots too as you can see from the picture of my machine and my husbands machine. It’s been a while since I hit a good puddle and got a little dirty so it was a nice change!
